Theodore Deacon earned his doctorate at the University of Washington School of Music and served there as professor of music, drama, and as director of its Opera Department. He has led a long and varied career as stage director, actor, composer, conductor, musicologist, music editor, and is an internationally respected lecturer and translator. In historically-informed music circles Dr. Deacon has worked with such luminaries as Jordi Savall, William Christie, Benjamin Bagby, and Stephen Stubbs. For over 20 years he has been a frequent contributor to London’s prestigious music magazine, Opera as well as the New York Metropolitan Opera’s Opera News.
