Chanticleer explores humanity’s eternal longing for the transcendent: the love that surpasses understanding, unites the sacred and profane, and holds the universe together. Spanning centuries, cultures, and styles, this program invites audiences into a luminous meditation on love in all its forms. Through Chanticleer’s signature blend of voices, the program reveals love as a force longed for, celebrated, and fleetingly glimpsed through song. Included are songs of devotion by Renaissance composers Jean Mouton and Juan Gutierrez de Padilla, as well as sacred expressions of divine love, with Darius Milhaud’s “Psalm 121” and Bobby McFerrin’s “The 23rd Psalm.” Perfect love, both earthly and divine, finds expression in Giovanni Valentini’s “Adoramus Te, Christe” and Jean Sibelius’s epic Finnish love song, “Rakastava.” A collection of contemporary songs rounds out the program, with the singers of Chanticleer showcasing their unique stylistic versatility. Included are arrangements of Richard Evans’s “Journey to Recife” and Manuel Sánchez Acosta’s “Paraiso Soñado,” which remind us that sometimes the only thing between us and the love we seek is a dream.

Seating Type: General Admission within the section

Public Transit: There is a bus stop for the #2 line right next to the church. The Capitol Hill Link station is about a half-mile walk from the church. There is also a street-car stop a block away.
Parking: Street parking is available around the church, and on Sundays it is free. There are a few handicap spots on the street right outside our accessible entrance on Harvard Avenue. We also rent out the surface lot at the corner of Spring and Boylston streets on Sundays. Parking in that lot is free until 2pm. We encourage folks who are able and comfortable to utilize public transportation. The #2 bus line Seneca/Boylston stop is right outside the church. The Rapid Ride “G” line and the First Hill streetcar stops are also within two blocks of the church. There are several pay lots within 2 blocks of the church.
Entrances: Are located on Harvard Avenue.
ADA needs: An accessible entrance with an elevator at the sliding double doors on Harvard Avenue. ADA parking is available around the venue.
Bathrooms: We have three all-gender restrooms. One is located at the back of the sanctuary, one on the floor below in the Harvard street foyer outside the Fellowship Hall, and one near the Women’s Restroom on the Seneca street side of the Fellowship Hall.
